ATK Awarded $20 Million to Deliver Load-Bearing Vests for the U.S. Marine Corps

ATK Wholly-Owned Subsidiary, Eagle Industries, to Produce Vests

Eagle Scalable Plate CarrierTM Lightens the Load for U.S. Marines

Minneapolis, August 17, 2009 – Alliant Techsystems (NYSE: ATK) has received a $20 million order from the U.S. Marine Corps to produce Scalable Plate CarriersTM and components. The Scalable Plate CarriersTM (SPC) are scheduled for delivery by the end of January 2010, and will be produced by the company’s recently acquired, wholly-owned subsidiary Eagle Industries.
The SPC, designed by Eagle Industries in 2008, maximizes Marines’ agility, while relieving heat and weight stress due to carrying individual combat loads in arduous environments. The SPC’s slim and highly adaptable configuration allows Marines to adjust the load to match ever-changing mission profiles. In Afghanistan, Marines are operating at higher altitudes and the SPC provides ballistic protection in that environment. The features of this system are specifically designed to lighten the Marine’s load, increasing maneuverability, lethality, and survivability.
“ATK is working with the U.S. Marine Corps to provide mission-critical solutions for the courageous men and women who defend our freedom,” said Mark DeYoung, ATK Senior Vice President and President Armament Systems. “We are constantly improving our existing products by developing new and innovative technologies, maintaining our quality standards, and providing the best value to military and law enforcement professionals around the world.”
ATK is a premier aerospace and defense company with more than 18,000 employees in 22 states, Puerto Rico and internationally, and revenues of approximately $4.8 billion.  News and information can be found on the Internet at www.atk.com<http://www.atk.com/>.

Consolidation Effort to Affect the New Bedford Facility

Transition Targeted to be Complete by July 31, 2009

Minneapolis, May 29, 2009 – Alliant Techsystems (NYSE: ATK) announced plans today to consolidate operations of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Eagle Industries, Inc., in the production of tactical systems and personal equipment for U.S. military and law enforcement.
